Spindletop Award - 10/28/2010

Beaumont, Texas - The Spindletop Award was created in 1999 to recognize larger area businesses for outstanding corporate citizenship. Previous recipients include ExxonMobil in 1999, Entergy in 2000, CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital in 2001, Conn’s in 2002, Hibernia National Bank in 2003, American Valve and Hydrant in 2004, Beaumont Enterprise in 2006, Baptist Hospital in 2007, Steinhagen Oil in 2008, and Market Basket in 2009.   This year’s award will pay special tribute to Mason Construction, one of the most highly respected and successful construction companies in the area. According to Nathan Cross, Chairman of the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, Mason Construction has made significant contributions to the economic welfare of our communities.  "Mason Construction and the Mason family have been staunch supporters of every civic and cultural organization in the city.  With Chuck Mason’s leadership, the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce was able to implement the Jason Project that is one of the most important programs for youth in our area.  Becky Mason has been a driving force for all the arts with particular dedication to the Symphony of Southeast Texas.  Both are active in the Rotary Club, Beaumont Community Players, and numerous other groups, " the Chairman said.  "In addition, the company has been an outstanding role model for its employee relationships.  We are extremely pleased to present this award to Mason Construction and the Mason family.”  Formal presentation of the award will take place at the Chamber’s Annual meeting on October 28, 2010 in the Julie Rogers Theatre.
